The Purple-Throated Mountain Gem generally inhabits Central America. It breeds in the mountains of southern Nicaragua, northern Costa Rica and western Panama.
While our hand blown glass Mountain Gem may resemble one of the commonly sold fantasy-colored hummingbirds, it decidedly is not! Depending on the lighting, the male is a kaleidoscope of green and purple, sometimes shading to blue.
