Other things you can do if you've lost a pet:
1. Let local shelters know about your lost pet. That way, if an animal matching the description turns up, they will know who to contact. It's best to do this immediately so your pet stays safe.
2. Put up a flyer in your local vet's office or animal hospital. Veterinarians and other animal lovers may be more willing to help with your search, and it will also put the vet on alert if someone brings in a lost, injured pet.
3. While hanging up flyers is important, it also helps to hit the Web. Many message boards and user groups in your community may have spotted your pet in the area. You can also find great tips on how to find a lost pet.
4. Remember to think like your pet. Does he or she have a favorite park, fire hydrant or tree? Look there first and check back often.
